BizKitchen: breaking down the barriers between startups and large companies

While fund-raising is an important step for start-ups, it is above all the ability to sell to world-renowned references that will enable them to become scaleups.

Indeed, for French digital startups, successful collaboration with major international groups is a gas pedal for their development. For major groups, such collaborations are also a differentiating factor. It’s a virtuous circle that boosts the whole ecosystem.

Over the past 3 years, CAC 40 companies have forged relationships with more than 4,000 French startups, representing over 80,000 jobs and nearly 7 billion euros in sales. But there are a number of questions that discourage the more cautious: how do you select the company or startup to work with? Who should be involved? Should I charge for a POC? What kind of contract? What payment terms? What are the long-term benefits? Which mistakes to avoid?

In response, Numeum is launching the BizKitchen web series with the support of Cigref. The idea? Take an offbeat take on the codes of the cooking show to discover the business recipes of successful startup/big company relationships, by taking us behind the scenes of BizKitchen, hosted by Catherine Barba, digital transformation expert and multi-entrepreneur. In each episode, a startup and a major corporation reveal their keys to success.

Thanks to BizKitchen, you learn a lot in terms of content, and it’s innovative in terms of form. During the interviews, I sensed a complicity between the partners and an honesty that is the hallmark of lasting relationships. Creating value together means first and foremost enjoying working together. “says Catherine Barbahost of BizKitchen.

For a start-up, a good contract is worth more than raising funds. As for major groups: a successful contract can sometimes generate more value than years of R&D. And yet, it’s all too often the one-off stories that spring to mind. That’s why we wanted to identify and share the best practices in French innovation, in order to decomplex and inspire the ecosystem. With BizKitchen, we want to show that these collaborations are possible, that they exist and how they work! “explains Guillaume Buffet, administrator in charge of Numeum’s Startups Program.

By supporting BizKitchen, Cigref aims to promote collaboration between major groups and startups in support of their innovation and digital transformation strategies. Indeed, many major groups are developing concrete and virtuous collaborations with the French Tech ecosystem. “says Henri d’Agrain, General Delegate of Cigref.

Carefully selected collaborations

From the dozens of examples identified, Numeum and its partners selected several emblematic companies to launch the first season of the web series. Criteria such as contractual value, recurrence and international reach were analyzed. For each collaboration, several video formats are available: a few-second teaser; a short summary; and the exchanges in their entirety.

Call for entries!

For the next season, BizKitchen is launching a call for applications. Companies wishing to apply can now do so using a dedicated form (click here). Selected collaborations will be filmed for the next season.

Jérôme Trédan, CEO of Saagie: This collaboration with AG2R LA MONDIALE shows us that start-up/big-group partnerships can work and rapidly create value. It’s no longer a simple customer/supplier relationship, but a co-creation process that benefits all parties. “.
