Job creation in French startups accelerates in April

After more than 6 months of relatively moderate growth, net job creation in startups in France seems to be picking up again in April.

Following a somewhat sluggish first quarter, recruitment in French Tech seems to have accelerated in April, with over 3,000 net jobs created, representing growth of 0.9%. Since the start of the year, startups have created over 8,000 net jobs, representing 2.5% growth overall. This is a better performance than in 2023 over the same period (+1.9%).

This increase can be explained as much by the acceleration in job creation as by the slowdown in job losses.

While Ile-de-France, Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and Occitanie contributed most to these net job creations, in April and since the start of the year, the dynamic can be observed in most French regions.

GreenTech and Industry startups lead the way as the sectors that have created the most jobs since the start of the year, with Industry even taking the lead in April.

It’s worth noting that SaaS clearly stood out as the technology that provided the most jobs in April and since January. Last but not least, we’re starting to see some momentum in AI, thanks in particular to emerging technologies such as generative AI.
