In an uncertain economic and regulatory environment, French Tech leaders are maintaining a level of confidence by continuing to recruit tangibly.

Indeed, after a marked slowdown in job growth between April and September, the momentum has been picking up for two months running. The slight upturn seen in October is now clearly confirmed in November, with nearly 1,500 net jobs created by French startups. With more than 17,000 jobs created since the start of 2024, November is back to the average levels seen in our barometer every month since the beginning of the year.

At the same time, we note several encouraging underlying trends. On the one hand, job creations are up by over 11% month-on-month. Although job losses remain high, they have stabilized and are even slightly down on the previous month. On the other hand, the number of startups creating jobs rose by 6%, while those shedding jobs fell by almost 3%.

On our map of metropolitan France’s startup scene, Île de France regains its historic leadership, with almost 56% of jobs created in November. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Nouvelle Aquitaine regions account for nearly 20% of job creation in French startups. All other French regions are in the green, with the exception of Centre Val-de-Loire.

The podium of the most buoyant sectors in terms of job creation in French Tech is still the same in November. GreenTech is in pole position among the most job-creating sectors, closely followed by industrial startups, then TransportTech.

The electrocardiogram of French Tech employment recorded a fine upturn in activity in November, and we look forward to seeing you at the beginning of January on https://barometrestartups.fr/ to share with you December’s trends, as well as our overall assessment of the year 2024. In the meantime, the barometer teams wish you all the best for the festive season!
