After a deceptively sluggish summer, with almost no jobs created and no jobs lost, the question was which way the trend would swing in September…

…And the job market in French startups is having a successful back-to-school season, with nearly 1,700 new positions created!

As a reminder, this summer period (July and August combined) saw a large number of startups (1,800) creating jobs, but even more (2,200) shedding them. In September, fewer than 1,900 startups shed jobs (around 3,200), almost 200 fewer than the previous month. At the same time, nearly 2,150 startups created jobs (almost 5,000 positions), i.e. 700 more than in August!

An atypical trend emerged this summer, with the Ile-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions no longer fulfilling their historic role as employment “locomotives”. On the contrary, they were even the regional employment areas that had deteriorated the most.

And as if nothing had happened for the regionsSeptember saw a positive turnaround, returning to the “norm” observed on the barometer. Indeed, the vast majority of regions in mainland France are back on track.Île-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes are reigniting their job creation engines, with nearly 1,150 jobs created, or 68% of the national total. The Nouvelle Aquitaine and Occitanie regions are also strengthening the positive momentum begun in August, and the Provence-Alpes Côte-d’Azur region is particularly noteworthy this month!

As far as the “Top sectors” of French Tech are concerned , the “best students” are also confirming their position this autumn! GreenTech remains the undisputed “top of the class” sector(+ 350 jobs). FinTech (almost 300 jobs) and TransportTech(almost 150 jobs) are still the sectors that make up the podium. However, attention should be drawn to the PropTech and BioTech sectors, which seem to be slipping back slightly.

In conclusion: the French Tech job market is having a successful autumn. All indicators are back to their usual pace of growth for French Tech, which, let’s not forget, has created over 22,000 jobs since the end of last year.
