Syntec Numérique and F.Iniciativas launched a sector-specific survey about the French research tax credit, seeking to understand how digital companies used the scheme and what impact it had. The historic questionnaire had a closing date in 2015.

Tax provisions affecting innovative businesses can be complex and change significantly over time. Eligibility may depend on the relevant accounting period, the nature of technical work and supporting documentation. Software projects in particular should distinguish research uncertainties from routine development. Historical notices offer useful background, but companies should never apply an old interpretation automatically to a current declaration or investment decision.

A barometer can reveal practical questions about documentation, project eligibility and the relationship between research investment and financing. Survey findings should be interpreted according to the period and sample concerned, rather than presented as current statistics.
