Women’s delegation at Web Summit 2023 in Lisbon: united we stand!

A wind of feminization blew over the 2023 edition of the Web Summit. At a time when France is set to lose 10% of its GDP by 2026[1] due to insufficient feminization of the tech professions, Numeum, the union representing France’s digital ecosystem, and the CCI Paris Ile-de-France have joined forces to change the situation and promote #WomenInTech beyond its borders.

A new collective for a new era

For 3 days, 24 women from the French tech industry had the opportunity to learn from and exchange ideas with leading figures from the French and European ecosystems. This unique French initiative, initiated by Numeum and the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave life to the “Women in tech for futur” collective, supporting women in the development of their businesses and paving the way for future generations. Because there can be no growth without feminization of the sector, this new consortium represented by Numeum, Femmes@Numérique and the CCI Paris Ile-de-France intends to pursue its action. The next Web Summit is scheduled for November 11-14, 2024 in Lisbon.

Numeum

President

I’m very proud of this first delegation of French women entrepreneurs at Web Summit 2023. This success marks the start of a wonderful collective adventure with the CCI Paris Ile-de-France and Femmes@numerique. Together, we’ll be able to break down certain barriers that prevent young women from entering the digital professions, and help women working in the digital sector to develop their network and their business.

The lack of gender diversity is one of the major causes of Tech’s unattractiveness. At this year’s Web Summit, we made history with the creation of this new consortium led by three women presidents: Véronique Torner, Soumia Malinbaum and Élisabeth Moreno. This image symbolizes a decisive turning point and underlines our commitment to parity in the sector. What’s more, the French pavilion has achieved total parity, a strong sign of our commitment to equality.

I’m delighted with this wonderful partnership, which is both useful and necessary to attract, retain and increase the pool of women involved in the development of the digital industry in France. Joining forces to provide 360-degree support for girls and women of all ages, from secondary school to entrepreneurship and professional retraining, is a powerful ambition that we are delighted to be pursuing together. A strengthened ecosystem, for French women in digital, based on the strength of the collective was born in Lisbon at the Web Summit 2023. Come and join us!

President

I’m delighted to be taking part in this first international mission for Women in tech at the Web summit 2023 in Lisbon, on the French pavilion. Today, women entrepreneurs have a major role to play as role models, and the creation of this consortium is a tremendous collective step forward, which will perpetuate our action. In addition to our support for the feminization of the tech sector, we are also seeing companies join us in our internationalization drive, as we pursue our objective of helping them to conquer export markets.
