French foreign trade strategy: digital as a key export sector
Under the theme of “communicating better”, the Minister has selected the digital sector, with software, embedded software and systems, as well as electronic components and products and connected objects: “I’m working with companies to organize and export our skills in software, embedded software, high value-added electronic components and products, security and e-services”, she comments.
For Guy Mamou-Mani, “this choice is structuring for the digital sector, as going international is an essential criterion for ensuring the sustainability and development of French digital SMEs and ETIs, and for fortifying export champions. It recognizes that digital is a key element in our industrial competitiveness, for all sectors in addition to our own, all the more so as the French Treasury recognizes that this sector will have the strongest export growth.

This choice illustrates the concerted efforts made by Syntec Numérique with the French government in advance of this project, with a view to building an integrated offering. This is well illustrated by software and embedded systems, for which, in addition to sectors where France is a leader, such as aeronautics and railways, new growth drivers are opening up with the smart home and the digital city, e-health, energy management, intelligent transport and connected objects”.
In fact, two other of the four selected export sectors announced – “better living in cities” and “better healthcare” – will also contribute to the growth of the digital sector’s exports. Here, French companies have an offer that meets the Government’s industrial policy objectives of quality and upgrading.
As part of the industry strategy committee, Syntec Numérique is involved in drawing up the international action plans that will be included in the government-industry contracts of objectives. Syntec Numérique is committed to working to ensure that the commitments made, such as the personalized support of 1,000 innovative SMEs and ETIs in export, are followed through.
