Why get involved with Femmes du Numérique?

Joining a network of women involved in the issue of professional parity and gender diversity in the digital professions is a step in line with my ongoing commitments. Involving myself alongside Femmes du Numérique is a fantastic opportunity to take concrete action, with the strength of a nationally recognized organization, in favor of greater representation of women in the digital sector.

When Sandrine Fouillé and I created the Femmes du Digital Ouest award, we immediately wanted to involve the Femmes du Numérique commission in our initiative. Because we share its values and vision. It’s in this spirit of sharing and inclusion that I wanted to join Femmes du Numérique, with the desire to work in a network, around collective projects.

What is your role within the Women in the Digital Economy Commission?

Through my appointment, I hope to contribute to the influence of the Commission Femmes du Numérique in the Pays de la Loire region, where women account for just 26% of jobs in the digital sector (compared with 28% nationally).

My work in the regions is in line with the Commission’s actions to promote digital diversity:

  • Creating role models and raising women’s awareness of digital professions
  • Training and communicating on Digital for Women in the professional sphere and to the general public via a web services portal and a mobile application,
  • Contribute to the development of digital companies with at least one woman on the Board by creating an incubator offering common services to all entrepreneurs and specific services for women.

As regional manager for Femmes du Numérique in Pays de la Loire, I want to help deliver the commission’s messages and promote its actions in favor of professional equality. Federating the players in the digital sector is a real challenge, especially those who train the professionals of tomorrow, such as high schools and engineering schools.

Biography

Sandrine Charpentier’s career path has been guided by two social issues: firstly, digital technology, for all the opportunities it generates and for its formidable capacity to facilitate communication, projects and exchanges between people. And for several years now, her commitment to gender equality, which she expresses through her blog womentoleaders. These two subjects led her to co-create in 2015 the “Femmes du Digital Ouest” (@PFDOuest) Prize, a regional initiative that aims to reward 3 women in digital in Pays de la Loire.

After holding positions in communications and public relations in agencies and within the Canon France Group, Sandrine founded and ran a media/e-media relations, online influence and brand content agency for 10 years, with a strong digital strategy dimension. Since January 2015, she has made digital diversity her daily business, with the conviction that digital offers many opportunities for women, whether intrapreneurs or entrepreneurs.
