Today, 8 million people in France are cut off from essential Internet access because they can’t afford the equipment.
With this in mind, Emmaüs Connect has launchedLaCollecte.tech, a solidarity platform designed to collect donations of equipment from companies (old laptops, tablets and functional smartphones) and give them a second life. An initiative supported by the French government.
Numeum is a partner in this initiative: let’s work together to collect as much equipment as possible!

The partnership with LaCollecteTech connects responsible digital practices with the collection and reuse of equipment. Extending the useful life of devices can support environmental objectives and help other people gain access to technology.
Responsible digital practices consider a technology’s effects throughout its life cycle, from design and procurement to operation, reuse and disposal. Environmental questions are linked to resource consumption, social inclusion and the quality of organisational decisions. A single campaign cannot address all these dimensions on its own.
Secure data removal, sorting, traceability and appropriate reuse partners are essential when devices are collected. Reuse is most credible when organisations can explain what happens to equipment and how environmental and social benefits are assessed. Clear operational steps turn an abstract sustainability ambition into a practical programme.
Collaborative initiatives make abstract sustainability goals easier to discuss. Workshops, partnerships and educational resources can engage people who do not specialise in environmental reporting. What matters is whether participants leave with relevant questions and actions that fit their organisation’s actual activities.
