Reaction to the Prime Minister’s announcements on support for youth recruitment and apprenticeships

The representative conferences of higher education establishments and the main organizations representing companies in sectors employing a significant proportion of young higher education graduates, welcome the Government’s decision to extend apprenticeship grants until the end of 2021 for all levels of training.

On the other hand, they are concerned about the announced end of the support scheme for hiring young people, which has been extended for just two months until May 31, under restrictive conditions that exclude young people earning a salary of over 1.6 SMIC from April 1.

Young graduates remain among the first victims of the economic crisis linked to Covid, and those who have completed long training courses and can claim salaries in excess of 1.6 SMIC have not been spared: they should not be penalized by the Government. The revival of our national economy requires the participation of all our young graduates.

The Conférence des directeurs des écoles françaises d’ingénieurs, the Conférence des grandes écoles, Syntec Conseil, Syntec Numérique and Syntec Ingénierie are therefore calling for the exceptional public support scheme for hiring to be extended as it stands for 6 months after March 31, for all young people.
