Proposed law against cyber-hate: digital industry organizations warn that new text could be ineffective

Article 1 of the draft law, which initially proposed to require operators of high-traffic platforms to remove or make inaccessible, within a maximum period of 24 hours of notification, any content that clearly incites hatred or discriminatory insult on the grounds of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or disability, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability, now includes search engines within its scope, and introduces additional offences that no longer correspond to the initial ambition of rapidly combating online hate and protecting the victims of this phenomenon.
