Paris, October 2, 2012 – While the 2013 Finance Bill announced last week by the French government confirms the President’s positive statements on the consolidation of the Young Innovative Company (JEI) scheme and the extension of the Research Tax Credit (CIR) to innovation, However, the government’s proposal to subject capital gains on company disposals to the progressive income tax scale, and thus increase the tax rate on company disposals from 32% to 60.5%, increases the risk and jeopardizes the future of innovative entrepreneurship in our country.

This level of taxation will prevent the creation of ETIs by blocking the external growth of innovative companies, which is a major challenge, particularly for export growth and sustainable job creation.

The digital sector is currently experiencing a boom in business start-ups, but its many VSEs and SMEs face the double threat of a brake on entrepreneurship and private financing of their growth in a context of fierce international competition.

As Parliament begins its examination of the 2013 Finance Bill, the consultation and dialogue that are dear to the executive must be put into practice quickly. The Syndicat National du Jeu Vidéo and Syntec Numérique would therefore like to see an urgent concertation organized to review the taxation of innovative SMEs and the conditions for supporting private financing of growth, in order to complete the securing of their legal, financial and fiscal environment, which would otherwise see the presidential commitments come to a halt in the middle of the ford.

For the trade associations, this aspect of support for the growth economy, the digital economy and innovation, which has demonstrated its resilience and vitality even in times of economic crisis, is crucial in a context of exacerbated competition, in order to consolidate an industry of the future, which creates jobs. They are waiting for a strong signal in this direction, to give them a clearer view of the future, which is vital to the vitality of innovative entrepreneurship.
