It is in this context that a Prime Ministerial decree dated January 29, published yesterday in the Journal Officiel de la République française, appointed 34 members of the HCE and reappointed Danielle BOUSQUET, former Vice-President of the French National Assembly and tireless campaigner for women’s rights and equality, as its President.

The High Council ismade up of 72 members from seven colleges: representatives of associations (10), experts (10), qualified personalities (13), elected representatives (11), government representatives (7), and ex-officio members (21, including the three presidents of the women’s rights and equality delegations of the National Assembly, the Senate and the EESC, and the network of 14 senior equality officials).

All members, including the Chairman, are volunteers and form the HCE’s pool of expertise. Members meet monthly in thematic commissions (parity; violence; health; stereotypes; international/Europe) and five or six times a year in plenary assemblies to think about, draw up and adopt the HCE’s Opinions and Reports.
