Communication campaign to promote digital studies and careers

From November to January 2022, Numeum, Talents du Numérique and Opco Atlas, via its brand for young people, Concepteurs d’avenir, are running a special information campaign entitled “Mes études dans le numérique” (“My studies in digital technology”).

Despite a wide range of opportunities, from public and private training courses at bac+2/bac+3 level (BTS, B.U.T, Prépa Licence etc.) to university courses, engineering schools or specialized schools geared towards web professions and leading to a master’s degree (bac+4/bac+5), not enough young people are choosing digital training and professions, often due to a lack of information and guidance.

In some twenty videos and articles published on youth media sites, the campaign helps people discover or learn more about the sector, the jobs they can do and the training courses that lead to them.

The My Digital Studies campaign highlighted study pathways that lead to roles in technology. Its purpose was to help younger audiences look beyond stereotypes and understand that digital training can open doors to very different professional environments.

A useful orientation resource distinguishes short and long courses, practical experience, apprenticeships and opportunities to change direction later. Learners also benefit from knowing what a qualification actually prepares them to do, and how to assess information from schools and employers.

Early exposure to digital professions can change how young people imagine their future. Useful orientation avoids portraying all technology jobs as programming roles and instead explains the range of tasks involved in design, infrastructure, security, data, project coordination and customer support. Encounters with professionals help learners assess the realities behind job titles. Employers and educators can complement such initiatives by giving young people opportunities to ask questions, try small projects and discover training options at different levels.
