  • 64% are confident about the future

Optimism remains the order of the day among publishers. Their confidence remains at a high level, and has even risen by one point since the March survey (63%). This indicator remains close to the symbolic two-thirds threshold.

  • 56% believe they are on or above target

Although more than half of them achieved their targets, this indicator was down fourteen points on the first quarter (70%).

  • 46% of publishers plan to hire

The transformation of investments into jobs has not always been immediate among publishers, due to the uncertainty posed by the economic context. This is still the case this quarter, with only half of them planning to increase their headcount (vs. 61% in March 2014).

  • 63% are planning to invest in new projects over the next three months

Forecasts remain at a satisfactory level are, however, beginning to erode over time (vs. 69% in March 2014).

“After the enthusiasm of the first few months of the year, publishers seem to have returned to a more realistic perception of the market. The majority of indicators remain positive, but companies in the sector seem more cautious after this mid-year review. It’s also the psychological effect of the end of a six-month period: the momentum of the autumn often helps to kick-start publishers’ optimism,” concludes the CEO.  Bruno Vanryb, President of the Publishers’ College, Syntec Numérique.
