The latest Syntec Numérique – BVA barometer confirms that publishers’ spirits are high in the third quarter of 2014: in line with their budget targets, they are investing and contributing to the fight against unemployment by forecasting an increase in their workforce.

  • 66% are confident about the future

Publishers are more optimistic than ever, confident in the future of their market and their business. This figure is the highest ever reached since the barometer was created, and is even 2 points higher than in the June survey (64%). In the third quarter, this indicator exceeded the symbolic threshold of two-thirds.

  • 54% believe they are on track with their objectives

While remaining realistic in their budget forecasts, more than half of publishers achieved their targets this quarter, with this indicator up 10 points on the same period in 2013.

  • 52% of publishers plan to hire

The confidence shown by publishers is translating in concrete terms into job creation: more than half of them are in fact planning to hire (+6 points compared to June 2014). They are thus helping to reduce France’s high unemployment rate.

  • 72%will invest in new projects over the next three months

The same dynamism is observed in their investment projections: a very large majority of publishers (72%) want to commit to new projects in the next three months, a jump of9 points compared to June 2014.

“The Internet, the Cloud and Big Data are not just impacting the traditional industry. Software is changing completely, and publishers are having to rethink not only their products, but also their business models. It is to meet this motivating challenge that our sector continues to show optimism and investment in the future, both in terms of projects and jobs”, concludes.  Bruno Vanryb, President of the Publishers’ College, Syntec Numérique.
