Reducing the environmental footprint of digital technology: Syntec Numérique’s position and proposals

The mobilization of public authorities and the digital ecosystem has led to the emergence of a number of proposals designed to reduce the environmental footprint of the digital sector.

Syntec Numérique supports the introduction of measures contributing to the necessary reduction of the sector’s environmental footprint. However, on all issues related to these debates, the sector is drawing the attention of public authorities to the importance of :

• agree beforehand on the measurement and quantification of the environmental impact of digital technology
• precisely define the concepts covered by the various measures and their scope of application
• harmonize measures across Europe
