Syntec Numérique and Tech in France have carried out a diagnosis of the impact of the crisis on companies in the digital sector, and analyzed the conditions for reviving activity in the sector, detailing the measures on which this could be based. On this basis, the recommendations are financial in nature, to support the financing and cash flow of digital companies and to use public procurement to boost the digital economy; fiscal in nature, to support innovative companies and promote the international development of the digital ecosystem; and social in nature, to support the social cost of the crisis and encourage training in digital companies.

Syntec Numérique and Tech in France are also presenting recommendations aimed at accelerating the digital transformation that will support economic recovery. It is indeed necessary to reinvent professional practices thanks to digital technology, in order to promote new working methods throughout the economy, accompany the development of self-employment and support new professional uses.

The two organizations also believe that digital technology will be an indispensable asset for economic recovery, and call for accelerating the transformation of government services and local authorities, promoting the digital transition of small and medium-sized businesses, strengthening corporate cybersecurity, and accelerating innovation in new technologies and the digital transformation of businesses, while supporting massive digital training for all. Finally, the digital sector is responsible and committed to converging digital and ecological transitions, promoting ethical approaches and inclusion, and accelerating the digital transformation of healthcare in France after the Covid-19 crisis.

According to Godefroy de Bentzmann, President of Syntec Numérique, “. Digital technology has proven to provide an essential service in making our society resilient. And yet, our companies have been hard hit by this crisis, as have all sectors. So there’s only one lesson to be learned: we need to speed up the digital transformation of the economy! We need to support businesses, local authorities, industries, healthcare and education professionals, and of course individuals who are committed to this process, because the world of tomorrow will be even more digital. We’re counting on the government to make digital the heart of the upcoming recovery plan.”

Pierre-Marie Lehucher, President of TECH IN France, declared ” The health crisis has shown that our economy and businesses are less resilient and flexible than those of other nations that rely on more advanced digitalization. The digital divide has also revealed its deleterious effects on our ability to maintain social and educational links in times of health crisis, particularly with the most vulnerable. Digital technology must absolutely be at the heart of the recovery plan, which will therefore be guided by public investments likely to bring us to the next level in terms of digital transformation.

Syntec Numérique and Tech in France are now at the disposal of the Government and the administration to continue this joint work towards a resolutely digital economic revival, and hope to see these first measures taken into account in the coming weeks.
