Digital technology to transform industry

On September 20, the Prime Minister presented an action plan based on two initiatives designed to enable industrial companies to seize the opportunities offered by digital technology:

  • an action plan to accelerate the transition to the industry of the future, with a focus on raising awareness among SMEs to encourage them to modernize their production systems, and the creation of “acceleration centers” based on existing centers;
  • strengthening regional ecosystems, in particular by mobilizing the Skills Investment Plan and identifying 100 industrial regions, in order to focus increased resources on them in collaboration with the regions.

Syntec Numérique is particularly pleased with the announcement of the two-year extension of the 40% capital cost allowance scheme, designed to encourage increased investment. The modernization and digitization of French industry, particularly SMEs and ETIs, is an ambition shared by all players in the digital sector, and Syntec Numérique has been mobilizing on this subject with Gimélec and Symop.

The Prime Minister has also set each sector the objective of setting up an industrial platform, with financial support from the PIA and possibly the opening up of public data. Syntec Numérique will be directly involved on this subject within the framework of the CNI Numérique.

Finally, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of “convergence between our industrial fabric and solution providers”, and announced an extension of the reduced patent rate for the software sector and a reduced rate of domestic tax on final electricity consumption for electro-intensive data centers, in return for a commitment from the sector to reduce electricity consumption.

Syntec Numérique’s Industry of the Future committee is committed to supporting the digital transformation of industries in all sectors (robotization, 3D printing, intelligent interfaces, etc.) in both industrial processes and organizations.
