Focusing on the second quarter of 2017, it highlighted the acceleration in job creation in the private sector (+91,700 jobs created over the quarter), up for the 11th consecutive quarter, i.e. for almost 3 years. The digital sector is playing a full part in this dynamism, creating jobs for the 6th year running.

Indeed, Syntec Numérique has announced the net creation of over 19,000 jobs in 2016* in software and IT services, taking the sector’s workforce to 447,000 employees*. In 2015, the sector had already created more than 15,000 net jobs. These figures illustrate the dynamism of companies in the digital sector, which nevertheless faces a skills shortage for certain profiles.

For Syntec Numérique, young people need to seize the opportunities offered by the sector. The “Day-Click” initiative, which will take place on November 21, 2017 at CENTQUATRE – Paris, provides an opportunity to discover digital professions and the companies accompanying France’s digital transformation in order to encourage vocations. To maintain this momentum, Syntec Numérique would also like to see efforts for digital training continue. Initial and continuing training courses need to be continually adapted to keep pace with changes in technology and business organization. “We are delighted with these new figures, which confirm the attractiveness of our industry and dispel the clichés about the destruction of jobs by digital technology! Today, our sector is one of the most dynamic, both nationally and internationally, and more promising than ever: we don’t even know the majority of the jobs and skills that digital technology will create tomorrow. We therefore urge the next generation to join our industry, which offers a wealth of career opportunities and is constantly recruiting,” comments Godefroy de Bentzmann, President of Syntec Numérique.
