Putting digital technology to work for our regions: 10 proposals for the 2017 campaign
Digital transformation is already a reality for the French, for their communications, shopping and business activities, for example. Our regions need to embrace it without delay, so that they can continue to respond effectively to the expectations of all their users: those who live there, those who work there, those who travel through them and those who visit them.
In local authorities, the use of new technologies and the enhancement of data enable greater coherence and more efficient services, while contributing to sound management and balanced budgets. Mobility, education, tourism, urban planning, healthcare, network management and more. all public policies may need to evolve to become more sustainable, better adapted to the needs of each territory and, above all, more efficient.
Our local authorities need to initiate and amplify their transition to a more digital environment. If they do, they will be able to create a dynamic and innovative ecosystem, enabling the development of digital businesses that create value and jobs, and are capable of asserting themselves on the international stage. We will be competitive if we succeed in this transformation.
All players are ready to seize this opportunity: users are demanding simple, instant and optimized services, and have the tools to make the most of them: smartphones and digital skills; businesses (large groups, SMEs and startups) are dynamic and efficient; local authorities are increasingly agile in implementing their projects. Digital businesses are at the cutting edge of new technologies, adapted to rapidly changing uses, and many are already working to support public authorities in their projects. This cooperation is the key to the digital transformation of our regions.
Syntec Numérique members have mobilized, notably within the City Committee, to formulate proposals for the attention of both elected officials and administrations, to enhance the value of digital technology at all levels of local government, in the run-up to the 2017 elections. Digital technology has entered the discourse of public authorities, and will soon be reflected in their actions. It’s up to us to continue mobilizing to support and accelerate the transformation of our country.
