AFDEL and Syntec Numériques welcome the fact that the conclusions of the European Council on October 24 include the key points of France’s contribution.

France’s crucial message of making the European Union a major player in the digital world, and not just a place for consuming digital services developed outside European borders, has been heard.

The trade associations therefore support the Member States’ determination to pursue and achieve an integrated single digital and telecoms market, for the benefit of consumers and businesses, one of the main levers of which, underlined by the Council, is the development of data-driven innovation in all sectors of the economy.

The Council’s recognition of the strategic nature of Cloud Computing and Big Data technologies, to which the French government has succeeded in giving real European impetus, is a promise of growth and jobs in France. To ensure the emergence of European digital champions, the professional organizations wish to play their full part in coordinating strategies for the development of Cloud Computing, Big Data and Open Data.
