European Digital Council: what priorities for tomorrow’s Europe?
Following on from his preparatory lunch with François Hollande on Tuesday, October 22, Guy Mamou-Mani supports the French position, which aims to bring out a greater number of successful European companies on world markets, notably through efforts to develop support for innovation, European SME financing instruments and venture capital.
Digital industry professionals and manufacturers are expecting this European Council to deliver concrete commitments on lines of force backed up by a strategy. All the subjects and points for improvement to support Europe’s digital ambitions have been listed on the agenda for this major event. It will be necessary, however, to make choices and establish priorities so that a strong, common will emerges in support of a strategy mobilizing short- and medium-term resources and objectives.
For Guy Mamou-Mani, the two priorities are :
- To give concrete content to the major European coalition for digital employment, to which he hopes France will respond favorably with a national training plan, to which Syntec Numérique intends to make a particular commitment.
- That work on personal data protection leads to a protective, harmonized and balanced framework, reconciling respect for individual freedoms and the competitiveness of digital players, at both European and international level.
