Measures include
- The reform of the industrial tribunal system was designed to simplify procedures and reduce delays. The government had added a scale of (maximum) compensation in the event of dismissal, depending on the length of time the employee had been with the company and its size. This measure was censured by the French Constitutional Council, which ruled that the difference in treatment according to company size “infringed the principle of equality before the law”.
- Changes to the rules governing collective redundancies, giving priority to collective bargaining and providing a stricter framework for defining the scope of application of redundancy criteria in the event of a unilateral decision by the employer.
- Simplification and incentives for employee savings and shareholding, in particular to enable them to be extended to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
