Training, France’s number one challenge
It depends on the mobilization of all players, public and private, State and regions, companies and training organizations, schools and universities. This challenge encompasses both initial training for schoolchildren and students, as well as lifelong continuing education. This 2nd edition of Day-Click focused on initial training and access to first jobs.

“Since 2014, Syntec Numérique has been making proposals on school and higher education. Things are moving forward and we’re delighted, such as the mission entrusted to Cédric Villani to improve math teaching and make France, according to the Minister, a great mathematical nation.

Godefroy de Bentzmann, President of Syntec Numérique, reminded us that “training teachers better in this discipline, teaching children to love math and to code, is a formidable challenge for the land of Descartes.

The feminization of digital professions
Beyond the lack of training, image is also a factor in the skills shortage from which the sector is suffering today. A great deal of work needs to be done to make these professions more attractive, in schools, in the regions, to families and to…young women!
The figures speak for themselves, and the situation in France is particularly alarming when compared with South-East Asia and the Middle East, where 50% of IT graduates are women, compared with just 27% in France. The stereotypical image of the computer scientist doesn’t attract girls! The barrier is cultural and societal.
Syntec Numérique has been championing this cause of women in digital for years through its “Femmes du numérique” program and the Trophée excellencia, the 2017 edition of which was held on the occasion of Day-Click, in the presence of Marie-Pierre Rixain, President of the Delegation for Equal Opportunities at the French National Assembly.
“We would like 2018 to be the year of the major national cause for the feminization of digital professions. We are leading this project with a collective of organizations in the sector, and our ambitious goal is to reach 50% women by 2022,” comments Godefroy de Bentzmann.

The transformation of businesses through digital technologies
More and more, the French will be working in a variety of different professions, evolving in several different business sectors. In such an environment, cross-disciplinary skills will be crucial.

“The government is making the same diagnosis, having just appointed a High Commissioner for Skills Transformation. It has launched a reform of vocational training. Today, the system is neither adapted nor sized to meet this challenge.
rnrn
The key word is INDIVIDUALIZATION, which means autonomous management of one’s training path by a responsible individual. We need to tell the government, the Minister and all those involved in vocational training that this is a common objective, and that we are waiting for a major fundamental reform”, concluded Godefroy de Bentzmann.

An event to reward talent: results of the Day-Click Challenge, the Challenge Ecole and the Trophée excellencia
With the ambition of mobilizing as many people as possible around the sector, Day-Click also revealed new talents and nuggets in the digital sector through the organization of 3 competitions.
The Day-Click Challenge: This year, 9 pre-selected startups competed in the event’s central ring, with just 3 minutes of pitching to convince, in 3 categories: B2C, B2B, robotics / IOT. A jury of professionals and the public selected 3 winners.
Full results and jury details are available in the attachment.
Schools Challenge: This competition was open to students from schools exhibiting at Day-Click. Each student had to present his or her school on a stand, using tools that had to be innovative, creative and attractive.
Results and jury details are available in the attachment.
It shows that training in the digital sector generates a very high level of satisfaction, which boosts young women’s confidence and ability to project themselves into the professions of the future, or to set up their own businesses.
Profiles of the eight winners, details of the jury and the study infographic are available as attachments. The Day-Click is a Syntec Numérique event organized with the support of :
